Monday

Welcome session

Welcome, Registration, course documents.

Getting to know each other. Ice breaking activities.

“Great Expectations: Flying towards and landing at the end of a successful course”: Each participant talks about their own expectations of the course.

Participants will go over the entire course program and review the course objectives.

Introduction to the concept and movement of the Sustainable School around the world.

Then, we will be introduced to the teamwork teaching approach that will form the basis of all the team work done during this course. We will also reflect on teams that we have worked in and on what makes a team effective.

Then, teams will proceed with team building activities. Consolidating the group.

Practicalities of the course. Participants will prepare for an oral presentation on the 7th day of the program.

Sustainable School Management Plan (SSMP)

How do we create a SSMP? Who are the Stakeholders, what are the processes and expected outcomes. Examples of SSMP from schools around the world. Practicing the creation of our own SSMP in groups.

-External lecturers will speak about the Sustainable School

-Cape Sounio –Temple Poseidon (Myth of the Aegean and Thesseus) (Entrance fee not included in the tuition fee)

-Lavrion-ancient mining area-Golden Age of Pericles

Visit to 3 islands (Aegina, Poros, Hydra) (Cost not included in the tuition fee)

Sustainable School Indicators (SSI)

How the SSI are produced and what the relationship is between SSMP and SSI. Presentation of the full set of the SSI and analysis of each one of them. Examples of different Indicators from different countries. Practicing the creation of our own set of SSI in groups.

Participants will prepare for an oral presentation for the 7th day of the program.

Study visits

Sustainable School Activity Plan (SSAP)

Morning: Visiting schools implementing the Sustainable School Indicators (SSI) project. Drawing conclusions about the effectiveness of the SSI project.

Afternoon: How do we create a SSAP? Connections and relations between SSMP, SSI and SSAP. We create our own SSAP using the SSI and the Smart Draw tool or other mapping tools.

Creation of mental maps about the SSI and SSAP.
