Welcome session |
Registration, course documents Getting to know each other. Ice breaking activities. Consolidating the group. Team building activities. Break “Great Expectations: Flying towards and landing at the end of a successful course”: Each participant talks about their own expectations of the course. In class, participants will go over the entire course program and review the course objectives. We will have an introduction to the Geography field visits and a journey through the countries implementing similar projects at their schools. In addition, we will be introduced to the teamwork teaching approach that will form the basis of all the team work done during this course. We will also reflect on teams that you have worked in and on what make a team effective. Practicalities of the course. Welcome dinner 20-.0022.00 |

Field study visit at the Corinth Canal and the Sousaki volcano Observations of the sediments and faults in the canal. Visiting the northern volcano of the Aegean volcanic arc. |

Reviewing a geo-field study visit and How to prepare for a Geography field visit (GFSV) |
We will evaluate the first field study visit. Was it well prepared? Was it well implemented? Have we taken all the safety measures? Have we prepared equipment and worksheets? Have we prepared for the practicalities (permissions, etc)? How do we prepare for a geography field visit? Examples of good practice in the field from schools around the world. We will create a checklist with things “to do” in order to prepare a safe and effective Geo Field Study Visit. Preparation of the next GFSV |
