Climate Change Education is the demand for the reorientation of different disciplines and educational experiences towards the mitigation and adaptation policies of the climate change. It intends to facilitate an integrated perception of the problems of the environment that lead to the climate change, enabling more rational actions capable of meeting the goals of mitigation and adaptation. A basic aim of the Climate Change Education is to succeed in making individuals and communities understand the complex nature of the climate change which humanity experiences in the last decades, resulting from the interaction of the biological, physical, social, economic, and cultural aspects, and acquire the knowledge, values, attitudes, and practical skills to participate in a responsible and effective way in mitigating and adapting to the climate change.

A further basic aim of climate change education is to show the economic, political, and ecological interdependence of the modern world, in which decisions and actions by different countries can have international repercussions, mainly on the lives of humans in the near future, due to the climate change. Climate change education should, in this regard, help to develop a sense of responsibility and solidarity among countries and regions as the foundation for a new international order which will guarantee the mitigation of the climate change and adaptation of the societies to the climate change.

The course is structured on three different modules:

A. The theoretical approach to Climate Change, to Climate Change Education and ESD;

B. Study visits about climate change;

C. Lessons learned and ways forward.
